They haven't given us much detail but as you would expect the ZOTAC external GPU box connects an GPU to your system via a Thunderbolt 3 connector, allowing you to add more GPU power to a mobile system or any other computer which needs a little boost to its graphics. You can fit cards of up to 9" in length, which makes it a perfect match for the two Mini-GPUs just below or other lower powered cards which are not as well endowed as your average GTX 1080 or 1080 Ti. It also adds four USB 3.0 ports and a Quick Charge 3.0 port to your system so you can leave it at home and simply attach your laptop via the Thunderbolt cable and get right to gaming.
to me a smaller box like this
to me a smaller box like this makes more sense. I think the market who is interested in this wants to just game on their ultra thin laptop. Feeding a 1080(ti) with a low power dual core is not gonna happen. And people owning a 1080(ti) probably wouldn’t mind having a proper desktop. Ergo, 1060/580 type of cards would be perfect in a box like this. You go from zero gaming performance to pretty awesome.

At first I thought that was a new mini-ITX case and was getting ready to whip my wallet out to buy one, but no, it’s just something from Zotac, sigh. Who has a computer with a Thunderbolt 3 connector anyways? Outside of Mac users I don’t see any use for these products until sub-$300 netbooks start shipping with Thunderbolt 3.
I’ve heard that Intel will
I’ve heard that Intel will lift its licensing fee to make the standard more accessible, so that’s something.
Case MUST be smaller. Hell
Case MUST be smaller. Hell its 2017. That case looks like it could fit an entire enthusiast itx setup in it.
