NVIDIA Announces GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti Graphics Cards
Computex 2021 (aka COMPUTEXVirtual) continues, and late last night for those of us on the East side of the USA, NVIDIA officially announced two Ti versions of RTX 30 Series graphics cards: the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. How much of an upgrade over the non-Ti originals might these new cards be? Let’s look at some basic specs:
RTX 3080 Ti | RTX 3080 | RTX 3070 Ti | RTX 3070 | |
---|---|---|---|---|
CUDA Cores | 10240 | 8704 | 6144 | 5888 |
Base Clock | 1.37 GHz | 1.44 GHz | 1.58 GHz | 1.50 GHz |
Boost Clock | 1.67 GHz | 1.71 GHz | 1.77 GHz | 1.73 GHz |
Memory | 12GB GDDR6X | 10GB GDDR6X | 8GB GDDR6 | 8GB GDDR6 |
Memory Interface | 384-bit | 320-bit | 256-bit | 256-bit |
TGP | 350W | 320W | 290W | 220W |
Launch Price | $1199 | $699 | $599 | $499 |
NVIDIA calls the RTX 3080 Ti “the new flagship gaming GPU of the GeForce RTX family”, which seems to indicate either a shift in position or classification of the RTX 3090. Or maybe this will be be the flagship you can actually buy (FYCAB). Either way, the RTX 3080 Ti’s 10240 CUDA cores is not far from the 10496 CUDA count of the RTX 3090, though you are getting exactly one half of the larger card’s VRAM (12GB vs. 24GB).
For its part the RTX 3070 Ti is a more modest upgrade over its non-Ti predecessor in price and specs, with the CUDA count increased from 5888 to 6144, and the memory apparently unchanged at 8GB 256-bit GDDR6X.
Now for the all-important pricing and availability information: The RTX 3080 Ti is slated for worldwide availability on June 3, with a starting price of $1,199. The RTX 3070 Ti launches on June 10 and starts at $599. A Founders Edition will be available for both cards as well.
The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti will be available on June 3 starting at $1,199, with the RTX 3070 Ti available on June 10 starting at $599. Both GPUs will be available for purchase as custom boards — including stock-clocked and factory-overclocked models — from leading add-in card providers, including ASUS, Colorful, EVGA, Gainward, Galax, GIGABYTE, Inno3D, MSI, Palit, PNY, Zotac and other regional providers around the world.
Limited-edition NVIDIA Founders Edition boards will also be available. Look for GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti GPUs at major retailers and etailers, as well as in gaming systems from major manufacturers and leading system builders worldwide.
Yay! More cores for the miners!
