So it is.
I remember reading an old news post pre Z370 release claiming leaks confirm quad channel memory support. I guess even if the boards do, the current CPU lineup doesn’t. Fingers crossed for impending Coffee Lake reheat.

Yeah, those slides must have been thrown together in a hurry!

(And I missed the SATA 3Gbps listed against the actual SoC too.)

Wow, those are some pretty big mistakes. I had grabbed the slides from AMD directly and their presentation…

This is not a compelling upgrade for most users. The game changer will be Zen 2 with 12/16 cores. I would love to put a 16 core Ryzen 2 in my Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3 board, just for bragging rights.

AMD’s Slide 7 seems to have a number of errors:
* “6x USB 3.0” should be “6x USB 2.0
* “6x SATA 3Gbps” should be “6x SATA 6Gbps

Or at least I hope the second one is an error. 3Gbps SATA ports in 2018?

Take Buildzoid’s advice that on any boards less than $150 the VRM arrangement is more than likely to be almost exactly the same using the same low quality components. So there is hardly a midrange in VRM/Power delivery build quality segement. It’s more of a low and high with the “middle range” not really defined as far as power delivery(VRMs, MOFSETS, PWM ICs, etc.) quality is concered. Watch out for names like “enthusiast grade” and “Overclocking” on boards below $150.

If you are going to overclock then go watch Buildzoid’s Motherboard breakdown videos as they are really thorough and Buildzoid calls out the MB’s if they use low quality components. Bulidzoid is all about overclocking and that means all the right better quality MB components and BIOS featuers is what Buildzoid looks for to reach the best and most stable overclocking.

If you are looking to save money then go for the lower cost MBs and really if you want to overclock then that’s going to cost above $150 for the motherboard at least and if you are going to spend above $150 for a MB for overclocking then watch Buildzoid’s Youtube channel.

The slides are indeed wrong, however the i5 8600k is not quad channel, do your homework. They should have compared the Ryzen 5 2600 + B450 with i5 8400 + B360.

B450 sure looks like a great platform, but there’s so much wrong with those slides, I don’t know where to start.
They call B450 ‘mainstream’ in the first slide, but then keep calling it ‘enthusiast grade’ and ‘enthusiast class’ in the following slides.
They do price comparisons with an unlocked chip that will run circles around the 2400G and 2600 when overclocked and supports higher clocked quad channel memory.
Then they do a feature comparison with locked chips, which match the (CPU) performance of overclocked AMD chips at lower power draw, without overclocks.
