Dell Updates the XPS 15 Laptop, Adds 4K OLED Option
New Model Offers Intel 9th Gen CPUs and NVIDIA Graphics
We already took a look at the smaller of Dell’s new XPS laptops, with the XPS 13 2-in-1 being announced equipped with Intel’s upcoming 10th Gen processors with Gen11 graphics, but what about the larger 15.6-inch version? The new XPS 15 (7950) offers Intel’s 9th Generation Core processors up to the powerful Core i9-9980HK, an 8-core 45W part offering Turbo frequencies up to 5.0 GHz.
Graphics options include Intel’s UHD 630 graphics and a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 GPU with 4GB GDDR5, with system memory of up to 64GB DDR4-2666 supported via the XPS 15’s two SoDIMM slots. As to storage, the XPS 15 offers configurations ranging from a 256GB to a 2TB PCIe Gen3 x4 SSD.

"Our flagship XPS 15 is now even more powerful with the latest 8-core 9th Generation Intel Core processors and up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics. Our most powerful XPS laptop ever also includes a stunning UltraSharp 4K Ultra HD InfinityEdge touch display with 100% Adobe RGB color or our first ever OLED display for lifelike images for creation or entertainment. The smallest 15.6-inch performance laptop is also has the longest battery life of any 15-inch laptop."
I don’t see myself buying any laptop with an Intel CPU’s for a long time. AMD’s APUs are just too good to bother with the iGPU from Intel.
I hear the zen+ based laptops are not as good with battery life still as intel options. Has this changed yet? Will be interesting to see the zen2 options. If battery life were equal I would definitely go amd.
Certainly the 10th Gen CPUs with Gen11 graphics from the new XPS 13 2-in-1 offer a more interesting iGPU option… If I were to get the XPS 15 I’d certainly opt for discrete graphics.
