The new TOUGHAIR line of CPU air cooling from Thermaltake is offering up industrial good looks with all the right physical ingredients for a fine cooling experience. Grey, dark grey, black and semi-black do go with everything though, right? Ok, the “next-gen” high static pressure fans look fantastic also. On sale now, the new tower coolers are the TOUGHAIR 510 at about 180w dissipation and the TOUGHAIR 310 with up to 170w dissipation. There is also a downdraft style for low clearance installations with up to 140w of dissipation, the TOUGHAIR 110.
The high static pressure fan configurations found on THOUGHAIR 510 and THOUGHAIR 310 provide approximately 58.35 CFM @ 2,000 RPM of airflow and features a controllable fan speed between 500 RPM to 2,000 RPM. Each fan is equipped with an advanced Gen.2 hydraulic bearing, LCP-made fan blades, and an anti-vibration mounting system for the increased lifespan and quieter operation.
Thermaltake has built the fins with an asymmetric design structure in an attempt to create additional air flow through the stack. It will be interesting to see if we can figure out a way test that out at some point too.
The heatsink is built using four direct contacted 4 x 6mm copper heat pipes with a maximum power handling of 180W TDP in the 510. The fins are all aluminum, and the 120mm fans will start up @ 6v and run down to 500rpms. The TOUGHAIR series is fully compatible with all the latest Intel and AMD CPU sockets, of course. Thermaltake backs up these coolers with a 2 year warranty.
It’s somewhat refreshing sometimes to see new coolers coming on the market that give us a choice to not RGB bling everything if we do not want that feature in a build.
