Samsung T7 Portable SSD – Speed Without the Fingerprint Reader

Samsung T7 Portable SSD – Speed Without the Fingerprint Reader

Earlier this year, Samsung launched the latest version of its high performance T-series portable SSDs, the Samsung T7 Touch. The new drive offered significantly improved transfer speeds of up to 1,050MB/s and, as indicated by its “Touch” name, a new fingerprint reader for easy security. Now, as promised, Samsung is launching the non-Touch version of the T7 SSD for those who don’t need, and don’t want to pay for, the fingerprint reader.

The business card-sized Samsung T7 can be slipped into any pocket and holds up to two terabytes of video footage, photographs, animations, video games, and music files. It is the perfect everyday storage companion for those looking to save memories or create content. The Samsung T7 lessens frustration with device compatibility, saves time with quick data transfers, and gives users peace of mind that important files are safe.

The drive shares the same design and transfer speeds of its Touch counterpart, but lacks the fingerprint reader. As a result, the new Samsung T7 is available at slightly lower prices, making the drive more competitive against other NVMe-based external SSDs.

Key features and specs of the Samsung T7 lineup include:

  • 500GB ($109.99), 1TB ($199.99), and 2TB ($369.99) capacities
  • Metallic Red, Indigo Blue, and Titan Grey color options
  • USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C interface (includes USB-C to USB-A adapter cable)
  • Optional password protection with AES 256-bit encryption
  • Up to 1,050MB/s transfer speeds

Based on the launch prices of the Samsung T7 Touch, omitting the fingerprint reader on the standard Samsung T7 reduces the price of the 500GB model by $20 and 1TB and 2TB models by $30. The Samsung T7 is available starting today and includes a three-year warranty.
